DIY Chandelier

I've always wanted a chandelier for the home but chandeliers are pretty expensive and I don't want shelling out lots of money for something I "want," so I decided to make my own.  I thought this would also be a perfect decor this Christmas :)
DIY Chandelier

Let's begin!
1.  Christmas/Fairy lights
 2.  Gold chains
3.  Bulb socket
4.  Wire
5.  Electrical tape
DIY Chandelier
Start by twisting your wire around two different-sized "molds."  I'm using our kitchen bowl here.
DIY Chandelier
Twist the wire several times to make a stable base.

Cut 8 pieces of wire about 5 inches in length.

Get your larger base.  Divide it into four quadrants.
Mark each spot and start twisting the 5-inch wires on your marked spots to make an eyelet.
Repeat steps for your smaller base.
DIY Chandelier
Cut chain about 12 inches in length and attach to the eyelets.  Remember, the length of your chains will depend on the size of your bases so adjust this accordingly.

It should look like this.

Do this for the smaller base this time using about 5-inch length chains.
DIY Chandelier
Get your 5-inch chains and connect it to the larger base's eyelets.
DIY Chandelier
Wrap your base with electrical tape.

Now get your Christmas lights and start wrapping them on your base.
DIY Chandelier
Hang your "chandelier," plug the lights into your bulb socket, and you're done :).

NOTE:  You need to "level" your chains before you hang them so that the chandelier would look balanced.  You can let the excess chains hang for added effect ;)

Perfect!

  2. This is an easy DIY. I think it would also be great to have capiz shells around it.
