Colored Sugar Cubes

Good day loves! I hope your having a fabulous day :)
Today, we're going to make something sweet and pretty.  I love making things pretty.  It makes my days better and a little more interesting.  Waking up with a good cuppa Joe always brings me into a good mood so does pretty things.  I get inspired by them every single day and what better way to start your day than making your favorite cup of coffee or tea with these sugar cubes.

Now, run to your kitchen and gather all materials needed:
1.  Sugar
2.  Food color
3.  Mold (Your can your cookie cutters or find some cute little containers you already have.)
4.  A spoon
5.  Water

Colored Sugar Cubes
Let's begin shall we?  In a clean bowl, place your sugar.  It does not have to be white, you can also use brown sugar if you like.  I do suggest though that if you choose brown sugar, you don't have to add coloring to it as the true color won't show especially if you chose light colors.  White sugar would be the best choice for coloring though not for your health.  Now, add in a drop or two of your food color depending on the choice.  What I did for mine is for every four teaspoonfuls of white sugar, I added one drop of red food color to get a nice shade of pink.  Mix the sugar and the food color well until the food color coats all of the sugar.  Adjust sugar or food color if necessary.  You can also add drops of vanilla extract at this stage, making your sugar cubes extra fancy :)

Got the perfect color?  Now, slowly add water, little by little.  Mix well until you achieved a wet sand consistency.

Get your mold, make sure it is clean then fill the mold with your sugar-water-food-color mixture.  Press it down with a spoon to make your mixture compact.

Now, get a clean plate then turn your mold upside down.  Lightly tap the bottom of the mold until the sugar separates from it.  Your sugar cube did not set? Add more water and try molding it again.  I've done this a couple of times, adjusting the mixture until I got it perfect.

Let your sugar "cube" air dry overnight to completely set before using it.  This process is important because if not, your sugar cube will crumble, thus effort wasted. :( Be careful where you place these though or the ants will have a bangin' party with these babies.  If you don't want to wait that long and you want the sugar cubes to harden faster, place it in the fridge.  A word of warning though, you should keep it the fridge the whole time or else your sugar cube would break/melt on room temperature.  It's best to wait a bit longer in my opinion, don't worry, you will survive (heehee!).

You are now ready to use these pretty sugar cubes.  This would be perfect for those girly girly tea parties.  This would also make a nice presentation when serving coffee to guests in your house.

Enjoy lovelies! Until next time :)
