Hey guys! How's your weekend? Mine was pretty fun. I made some cheesecake, which I will post next, to bring to a friend we visited. For today, I will show you a simple tip I use for our house. If you like making lists, doodling, and writing messages, notes, and reminders, this tip is for you. How many times have you gone to the store and come back only to find out that what you've bought you already have or worse, not buy what you really need. I am usually like that, so I devised a simple plan on how to avoid these instances, wasting money by buying excess or going back to the store just to buy something you really, really need. This is a very simple project I did just to help me organize things. It is pretty self-explanatory but here goes.
For this project, you will need:
1. A white board and a marker
2. Glue gun and glue stick
3. Button magnets
Okay, first, you need to have a white board. I bought mine at the grocery store only about the size of a legal-size bond paper. It comes with a free marker which I like and it only cost me less than a 100 bucks (US $2). I also bought magnet buttons at Japan Home (our version of the Dollar Store) for only 66 pesos a pack. You will only need for four this project. The first thing you need to do is lay the white board on a flat surface and turn it upside down. Heat up your glue stick and place one magnet on each corner of your white board.
This is how it should look like. Let it dry for a bit. It would not take long as it dries up super fast. Oh, make sure that you place the magnet's flat surface up. This side is the right side.
Place your white board on the front door of your fridge and you are done! See, that easy :) Because the marker's holder was not strong enough, I also placed a bit of melted glue stick to secure it further.
Now, you can start writing notes on it. Here's one I made. I placed a what-to-buy list. Every time we run out of something, I write it down. This method makes sure that I get what I really need and I can track what we have and don't have. You can also write reminders or messages on your white board instead of lists. The husband also placed a daily to-do list at the bottom of our white board which he erases every time a to-do gets done :)
This is optional, but if you're like me who hates typing on the keyboard (which is kinda ironic because I am a transcriber) before we head to the grocery store, I use my phone to take a photo of our what-to-buy list which guides me on what I only need to buy at the supermarket :) Very helpful. No waste of paper and no typing on your cell phone.
That's it :) I do hope this tip is helpful.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week ahead! :)

haha i like it that you took a pic of the list, thats what i usually do too. although i dont use a board cause i find it time consuming to look for something to wipe out the ink off if i want to write a new list. cant wait to see your cheesecake recipe! :)
ReplyDeletecheesecake recipe already up! ^_^
DeleteCan't wait for the cheesecake recipe! I have one like that in my bedroom but I stopped using it a long time ago because well, we have tablets and smartphones now which has an alarm to remind you of your list. :)

DeleteThis is great! We write on a small piece of blackboard taped outside my Mother's bedroom door to remind her of what day it is but your tip will help us save on chalk and it is less messy. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis such a better idea than sticky notes!!!! Thanks for this - hopefully moving into my own little flat soon and this will definitely be implemented xxxxx

yey! thanks!
DeleteNice idea! I have a whiteboard too but it already has a magnet on it so I don't really need to do anything else except put washi tape on it for design. I have to read that cheesecake recipe next! :D
